My 6 Week Evaluation

My Freelancing Business at 6 Weeks Old

I haven't written a post in a while not because I'm lazy, but because I simply have not had the time. These first six weeks have come and gone and I am a better writer from it!

March 7, 2020, 6 weeks ago today I powered up my new desktop computer and put a plan in place that put money in my hand on the very first day!

A Lot Has Changed

To say that these past 6 weeks have seen a lot of change just may be the understatement of the year. Everybody's life has changed or been affected by the coronavirus. I was not immune. I used this new idea of social distancing to my advantage. And when the governor of my state issued a strict stay at home order I used that to my advantage as well.

I was being told to stay home and that played right into my plan. My plan required that I stay home and do two things. Write and get clients. The pandemic just gave me and everybody else the opportunity to spend more time on the computer.

I have written articles for 8 different clients since I put my plan into place. And gaining clients is something else that invested a lot of time into.

The first client I wrote for back on March7 is still with me and I get regular weekly writing jobs from him. He uses the Freelance My Way platform and if you go to their website you will not only see me there but you will see that I have received nothing less than a 5-star rating and have earned the preferred freelancer badge from having a quick TAT (turn around time) and never having to do any revisions or rewrites. Yeah, I'm that guy!

Add that to some clients from Upwork and there you have my story. I have also learned that I can not please everyone and some of my Upwork clients and I have parted ways after a week or two. I find it really awkward to tolerate a client that can not be pleased with anything you do and act like they are paying you 1.00 per word when in fact they are only paying one-half cent per word! I have had a few of those.

But at the 6-week mark, I have fine-tuned my client base to where the three that I do work for are very easy going and really appreciate what I do. And they pay a bit better than one-half cent per word!

My Plan Going Forward

The biggest change I would like to make in the next 6 weeks is simply to blog more. I am now averaging around 5000 words per day and my time management skills are improving so maybe I can blog more.

Other than that I plan to optimize the heck out of the clients that I do have, and I have decided that for the foreseeable future I will focus on only two platforms. Upwork and Freelance My Way. If you have the opportunity to go there and check out my profiles and see some of my handiwork

Now I need to get back to those clients...right after I feed my cats. More coming soon, I PROMISE!
